International Champion Commits To Men's Wrestling

REDDING, Calif. - Head Men's Wrestling Coach, Rod Forseth, has announced the commitment of international Jiu-Jitsu champion, Mirlan Matkaziev, for the upcoming season. 

Matkaziev comes to Simpson from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and will be majoring in Computer Information Systems with a Business Administration Concentration.

He has many accomplishments including World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion 2019, Bronze Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Asian Championship Medalist 2018, 3x Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kyrgyz Republic National Champion 2017-2019 and Multiple champion and winner of international tournaments 2009-2020.

Matkaziev says he chose Simpson because it "has a great level of education and an excellent Varsity Wrestling Team."
