REDDING, Calif. - Women's basketball hosted Cal Maritime Wednesday night in a makeup game from the beginning of January, getting the crucial win with a final of 71-54.
The Keelhaulers hit the first points of the game with a three by Kai Kraus, but it would be the only lead for the the team. Senior
Ellie Hamel sunk a three of her own to tie up the game, and from there the Red Hawks took off.Â
Going into halftime, SU was leading, 41-26.
The final 20 minutes was much of the same, the Red Hawks pulling away and holding the commanding lead. Their largest came with just under six minutes to go in the game, leading the Keelhaulers by 21 points.
On senior night, two seniors lead Simpson in scoring.
Kayla Bonomini tallied 13 points, followed by
Breesia Northern with 12.
The Red Hawks will play their final home game on February 17th, hosting Lincoln University at 5:00 PM, before heading on the road to face UC Santa Cruz and UC Merced.
