Men's Basketball Cruises to Victory over Multnomah

PORTLAND, Ore. – Men's Basketball earned their second win in as many nights on Friday as they took on the 5-2 Lions of Multnomah University.

The first half was tightly contested with 10 total lead changes, but the Red Hawks put together a little run with three minutes to go in the first half to show that they would later take control of the game. After 20 minutes the Red Hawks headed to the locker room with a five point lead. SU had two double digit scorers at the half in Nathan Presnell and Black Trent with 18 and 14 points respectively.

Simpson really put their foot on the gas in the second half, holding their opponent to 45 points and pouring in 65 of their own. The offense just kept coming for the Red Hawks as they took their biggest lead of the night, 24 points, with just under a minute remaining in the game.

By the end of the night three of Simpson's starting five had recorded double-doubles. Harvey Barr scored 17 points to go alongside his 10 rebounds and Kon Anguik contributed 10 points and 12 boards.

The impressive performance from the Red Hawks starting frontcourt did not stop there as Freshman Nathan Presnell from Atlanta, Georgia poured in 39 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in his 30 minutes on the court for SU.

Presnell was not the only Red Hawks to have a career night as Junior Dylan Banks dished his way to a career high 10 assists, leading the Red Hawks along with his four points and four rebounds.

Sharpshooter Blake Trent stayed ready, draining an impressive six of nine from beyond the arc to add to his total of 20 points. Trent was just one of five Red Hawks to contribute double digit scoring efforts on the night.

This was just the second win of a three game Oregon road trip and Simpson will be back in action tonight in Portland at 5 p.m. The Red Hawks will look to advance to 4-3 on the season against the Portland Bible College Wildcats.
