LE GRANDE, Ore. - Coming off a bye week, the Red Hawks football squad traveled north to take on the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University.

But the Mountaineers extended their lead as they found the endzone late in the first quarter to take the 14-0 lead following a good extra point.
However, the Red Hawks and Mountaineers flexed their defensive prowess as they held each other off the scoreboard in the second quarter.
The Mountaineers struck first in the second half as they scored on their first offensive play for a 43-yard strike.
The big plays continued to plague Simpson as the Mountaineers padded their lead on a 96-yard catch and run to extend their lead to 27 following a missed extra point.
The Mountaineers' defense continued to shine as they picked off a pass deep in Red Hawks territory and found the endzone for a defensive score to make it a 34-0 game.
The Red Hawks held the Mountaineers off the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter as they forced their second missed field goal of the game.
However, Simpson could not overcome the Mountaineers' explosive plays as they fell 34-0.
