Women's Golf squad places eighth in the Gem State

CALDWELL, Idaho – Idaho had no gems to offer for the Simpson ladies golf team as they finished in eighth place.

The Simpson University Red Hawks sent their women's team to Idaho for the College of Idaho Invitational.

A top-tier field that included the University of British Columbia and the Oregon Institute of Technology made for hard work for the Red Hawks.

A first round of 368 (+80) put the Red Hawks in 8th place. Katelyn Miller shot the girls' best score, an 86 (+14). The other girls didn't fare so well as they slid down the leaderboard early, shooting in the 90s.

Without much to celebrate, the girls put their heads down and went to work on day two, ultimately shooting 353 (+65), a 15-stroke improvement on their first day.

Addison Jones, the longest tenured Red Hawk, improved upon her first day 98 (+26) to shoot an 84 (+12).

Miller had deja vu as she shot another 86 (+14) to place 26th (of 44).

The girls are back in Idaho next week as they travel to Lewiston for Lewis-Clark's event from Oct. 19-21.
